foundry sand equipment questions

Post by todd goff »

Okay, here is the situation; I recently picked up some foundry equipment from a friend of mine that lives in Alabama and have some questions about the equipment. The machines I picked up were as follows; 2 osborn sand squeezers, 1 fisher tilting furnace, 1 royer sand cutter and a molders friend. I use petro bond sand and after getting the royer running (well until the motor burned up) I decided that I like the way that it works better than the combs riddle that I have. Does anyone have a preference for cleaning the sand? Which one works better do you think? The next question is does anyone out there use a molders friend and if so how do you like it? I am trying to get mine going and am having a time; I realize that once I get electrical issues squared away I know that I am going to have to cough up the money for new brushes. This is just my take on things and I just wonder if there are any advantages of using this equipment. :?:
