I have a small business and found the I need for a few parts to be cast. There is a local foundry that cast some other parts but they didn't make the patterns. I have prints and parts that could be used. After reading some of the interesting post, this must be the right place for this information. If there is anyone interested in making some patterns please contact me. Thanks,
Darrel

We have at least one pattern maker on the forum. Here's a link to the board page for one of them.

You might consider sending him a PM to see if he'd be interested in helping you with the pattern you need.

Hello Darrel,

I know it's been a while since you posted this, and I've never made a pattern in my life, but I've done a lot of woodbutchery in my days, and intend to make patterns for my own wants, to cast in my home shop, and I'm curious to see a sketch or plan of what it is you want to do...even if you already have your own patternmaker in your own neck o' the woods.

Would you be willing to send or post something with a little 'meat' in it, please?

Thanks,

Mark in Modesto

You may not hear from Darrell. He has not been on the board since August.

Hi Mark,

I think I have someone who can handle these for me. I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you curious to see if you can make these pattern boxes?

Thanks,
Darrel

Hi Darrel,

If by 'pattern boxes' you mean the cope and drag...no. I know what those are about (though I've never touched one)...I was curious about the pattern (or original) itself, mainly to see if I thought I could pull it off myself. Not that I'd particularly want to, but mostly a little brain fodder for in the background...

I do intend to do a little casting (aluminum), and will definitely be making my own patterns. I've read all about it, but have yet to melt anything!

Thanks,

Mark
