Sounds like another scam to get more medical money out of our hides. Money for the xray. Money for the radiologist to read it and write his/her report.

More like a CYB to keep the malpractice lawyers away...put the blame where it belongs...

Yep, the day before the surgery, I had to have a Full Physical (again only 2 months since the last one). And an EKG, (at the cost of $100 a minute, since it only took 5 minutes).
Finally got to the surgery and I was only concerned about how to pay the cost of the surgery.
I think the extras will add 30% to the total cost.
Now a 3 month wait until I can look for work again.

Sometimes I'm so glad we had a socialist government after WW2 - health care's free and good quality although you may have to wait a while if it's not "life threatening", and you still have the option to go private if you have the insurance!

When my (then 11-yr old) daughter had problems she had the MRI, PET, bank of blood tests etc. within 2 days of turning up at the hospital, not so shabby :)
A couple of weeks ago when I had a "swarf-eye interface event" I had to wait an hour in the emergency dept. (I can live with that for free!), and the specialist ophthalmic surgeon's consultation wasn't until the following day... Ditto!

I hope our current lords and masters (as they see themselves) don't manage to dismantle what was built over decades *by the nation, for the nation* just to save a lot less money than they've cut from taxes for the super-rich or spent propping up the banks they love so much :(

You must be Canadian, since our socialist Supreme Court just yesterday saddled us with a socialist healthcare system...I'm sure it will make us as happy as you are... i just wonder about all the Canadians who come across the border for healthcare through our "inferior" system, especially late in the year when all the Canadian doctors have done their quota for the year & took the rest of the year off...glad you're happy with it...& glad you think it's "free"...

Yep! Any further political discussion will result in a locked thread.
Politics are strictly forbidden on this board (for obvious reasons).

Well, all I was saying was it's nice *not* to have to spend a walletful of money on something other than tools... And to know that even someone as poor as me gets the same level of health care as one of the fat cats - even if I have to wait a few days!

I hope all goes well with the treatment, and the bill doesn't break the bank!

That is the downside of having a welding job. Since MRI is metal sensitive, they need to be careful in admitting patients to take the test. I'm sure not only welders go through this kind of precaution when going for a check up but I guess we need to take care of ourselves to avoid this kind of hassle when going to the hospital.
