Did you count your programs? If you have a lot of software, you may not notice the stuff Windows deleted until you try to use it.

G'morning. As I sit here with a keyboard in my lap, the refurbed/repaired 780 is functioning normally. We got it from the geek, who claims we lost a chip. Repair was $50. I had a short question an answer with him, and decided he is telling me nothing. He would tell me red is blue, and I would not know the difference. Such is the world of the techs these days. I dunno how he would determine what chip is bad, it could not be the CPU for $50. so I remain in the dark.

So now with a functioning unit with the familiar XP system, i have to arrange getting the files and data off my failed unit, which seems to be a reading problem with the hard drive(s) That may be a problem, but all the camera and driver programs are there, and I wont have picture ability until I get the camera programs in. So stay tuned, I have not gone away yet.

Thanks again for the return contacts.

I think it is in the audio section which draws more amps. That was the beginning of the failure and may now be a load triggering the power failure.

Nah. The geek stripped the machine and gave it a good leaning, that is for sure. It was full of dust bunnies, as we have a dander filled house with all the aminals. Other than a balky mouse, we are moving forward. It doesnt recognize my wireless mouse. the corded spare has a Gremlin in it, and stops working as it seems there is a break in the cord. Now I have to go through the ritual of transfering files from the dead computers hard drive, to the new memory storage.
Yhanks for the thought on the Eve of Xmas. Gotta go for family visits.
