I popped a coyote out the kitchen window. Got him with one of my pellet rifles. .177 & 15 grain pellet, at about 1200 FPS.
He was out there drinking out of my lathe dog's water bowl. Can't have that. I thought I missed. I shot, and he didn't move. I was reloading, and I looked out, and he just fell over. Scraggly lookin' critter that one.

My squirrel feeder plan is to have a situation that works as a sort of squirrel vending machine. Lead in, dead squirrel out.

I modified a bird feeder for my Mom years ago. It was just a piece of plywood with an edge, screwed down to the windowsill. She liked to throw some bird feed out there, and watch 'em as she was in the Kitchen.
Then the squirrels showed up. Birds gone.
I used some flat braided copper grounding wire my Dad had laying around, tacked about 8 strips across the plywood, and wired every other one hot, and neutral, and a switch to 120V.
Didn't kill too many of 'em, but the ones that it didn't kill, were sure fun to watch jump 6 feet straight up in the air. Kitchen window was on the second story....I think that got a few of 'em too.
I think it needed 220V, like Tim The Toolman....MORE POWER! Didn't bother the birds if it was accidentally left powered up. They seem to have well insulated dirty birdy feet.

Something for you to think about.... You could make the Graham Squirrel-O-Matic. Enough power, you can kill 'em, gut 'em, cook 'em, and blast off their little pelts with a push of a button.
(And make the lights go dim)

My aunt had a bunch of clown squirrels in her suburban back yard. We would torture them with peanuts taped to the glass doors, and they would just do anything to get them off. Evil kids that we were, we made all kinds of rube goldberg traps and trips to mess them up in their quest to raid the bird feeders.

That squirrel chucker is the best, I laughed myself silly on that one. They sell whirly things around here for squirrels, but I have never seen one work, but I know they can be determined. Where I live we had 13 stripe ground squirrels, (rare species) and little half pint flying squirrels. I have not seen any in some years now as all the nut and acorn trees have died off and been replaced with maple and other non-nut bearing trees. So they are all gone with the habitat foundering.

A mean little kid down the street used rat traps to be a headsman on grey squirrels with a bird house looking thing offering peanut butter. It had 4 holes and could trap that many at once. He turned professional getting paid a bounty from owners that hated squirrels in the attic and such while still in high school. He is long gone now, but I remember he killed my grandpas pet pigeon with a BB rifle. It broke the old mans heart when pidgy failed to return home and dance for him.

It is not getting caught in the rain, its learning to dance in it. People saying good morning, should have to prove it.

A friend has a feeder like the Circus Squirrel uses. He said one day when he looked out there were a few squirrels milling about and one had on a green eye shade and a roll of tickets, standing on a box of nuts. I think he was spoofing me.

I just bought 2 squirrel feeders and a big bag of squirrel chow. By October, I'll have a regular flow of feeder junkies waiting to be "harvested." I'm going to put one feeder in the front yard, so I can shoot from the front porch, and one out back, so I can shoot from the back porch.

I told a friend of mine: I keep my friends close and my enemies closer.

I am plagued by tree rats (squirrels) that destroy property. Because they live and traver mostly in the trees, I can't use a firearm on them, so I have a Feinwerkbau air rifle that can take them out. I also have a problem with woodpeckers that are destroying my trees. I'm not sure about the policy about dealing with woodpeckers. They are big and really beautiful birds, but very damaging.

The woodpeckers wouldn't be pecking at the trees were there not insects under the bark for them to eat.

I wonder if a dose of systemic imidacloprid on a tree's roots would kill bugs and drive off woodpeckers.

I just picked up a .204 Ruger for the coyotes, and I'm going to try an infrared scope. If it doesn't work, at least I'll be able to shoot the PA system if my neighbors have loud parties at night.
