American vs British trains
This really gripes me! I have been watching history channel on TV and on many episodes, they will document for example; the expansion into the west in America; they will flash a picture of a train heading west on American rails, what is supposed to be an American train, they show a "British" train. It only flashes on the screen fo no more than 2 seconds, but it's long enough to recognize that it is not an American train. I don't understand why they would do this, as there are tons of stock footage of American trains of that era available. Why use a British train? I realize the writers of these shows may not know the difference between a British and American train, of if they do, think the audience is too dumb to know the difference. This could also be combined with the previous discussion of precision, but directed towards precision of information.

The British trains depicted in the videos are from the early 1900's.

I can't stand the British. ..peep, peep, Thomas the tank engine whistles
Re: American vs British trains
It isn't so much that. They just think we are stupid. So many "great" movies of warfare depict entirely wrong vehicles. What po's me is they don't even try to mask it. So the American M-47 is supposed to be a Tiger pzkpfwVII or whatever and the Shermans are the Walker Bulldog. I'll bet the old Vets cursed at the screen. Heck, some of the depictions were a Sherman with German insignia. Hollywood entertainment and it goes everywhere as if it was true. Same with the remarkable trains.

I suppose many know this but after the war was over, The huge Tigers and Panthers were cut up and rendered unusable. The ones that existed are in Russia -this is Old news because decades later another was found in a swamp. It becomes part of history because if it was a light tank, there wouldn't have been so much effort to defeat it.
This is not the way to think about 2019. There are incredible different ways of the same platform but all this work. All this expenditure and all the cutting up of newest armored vehicles. Between shell shock, severe injuries and loss, PTS and the finest vehicles, they know evil. Indiscriminate evil.
That f'in bomb could have blown up school buses full of kids or the Red Cross's buses. Our Troops took it first.

I once wrote a letter to a TV producer complaining about the phony looking navy ship used as a backdrop for it's show. He responded and said because the show was new, he couldn't spend much on props.
