Re: Too cold
I used to live in northern Maine; -20 in the day wasn't uncommon, and - 30 nights were normal.
The lakes would freeze 3 or 4 feet thick.
I've experienced the other extreme too; I lived in southern India for a long time.
That's why when we had a choice of living almost anywhere, we chose this place. Mild summers and mild winters, normally with adequate rainfall.
There are many factors that affect this choice other than weather of course; but I find that most people just settle wherever they find themselves.

Re: Too cold
As thrilled as I am to be 300 miles away from the cesspool of Miami, I feel I didn't move far enough. I would love to settle in Tennessee for the remainder of my life.
Every hard-fried egg began life sunny-side up.
