Who was looking for tool handle dip?

Post by Jim_Popa_N_CA »

Couldn't find my way back to the post inquiring about tool dip.....Found my 15+ year old can (almost dried up) and decided I'd need some soon myself.....Found the Plasti-Dip International website, but couldn't find a USA distributor.....

Further search turned up a site showing selection and pricing.....Here it are:

http://www.cornerhardware.com/hardware/ ... g-232.html

During the search I found an interesting site listing many non-standard uses for the dip, including how to mix custom colors.....

http://quiltershusband.com/

I've not bought from this company so all the usual caveats apply.....

ONly problems I have found out with Plasti-Dip is it is attacked pretty quick with common petroleum products (oil, grease, gas etc) I had some handles on rools etc dipped in the stuff, as well as the round balls o my drill press quill feed handle, and I kept getting a red color on my hands, if there was even the slightest bit of grease or tapping fluid etc on them. I don't know if its still the same way, but I would double check if it still dissolves when in contact such as this, if there is a chance the tools get greasy etc. BTW Northern Tool (NorthernHydraulics) sells this stuff.
