Yep that is what I was talking about.
Just wrap the pipe with Rubber tape. and put the 2" coupling over it.

UPDATE;

Here was my fix. No hub sleeve would have left a ledge in the fitting junction. Not a good thing in a drain line to catch lint, soap,and crud in general.

Drilled out the old lead joint and pried remainder of lead and oakem out with screwdriver. Plumbing World for a Rubber Hub Adapter that is a very snug fit into old cast iron joint collar. Short 1 1/2" ABS trap adapter to that and everything is downhill as meant to be.

Thanx guys

Now that I've inherited Dads "home plumbing solutions" I can honestly say that I am basically a master plumber :mrgreen:

He hung pipes with wire and rope, in 25 units.

Used silicone (for windows and doors" to seal oakum and lead joints.

ALL his traps are 1.25 and chrome plated into WHATEVER he could reach.

Often it takes me numerous times to the Lowe's.

I understand that he "made it work"; But recently I had a leak behind the 3rd floor which ruined the 2nd floor, I am 30 minutes away. Turned out dad felt blocking off the extra 1/2" NPT made from brass, he would use steel. It rotted and I bet would have blew out the next day. Oh yes, and when I got all done, some of that steel contamination plugged the toilet supply float so I cleared it and put in a fluid master.

Thanks Dad :roll:
