Want to pick up two foot pedal pneumatic valves but I'm not familiar with the terms. 3 ports 2 way, 5 port 3 way etc.
1) Simply an on/off. Step on the pedal, supply air flows. Let off the pedal, supply air stops.
2) To run an air cylinder. Step on the pedal, air flows into the cylinder. Let off the pedal, supply air stops and the air in the cylinder is allowed to exhaust back out. It would be used with either a single acting cylinder without a spring return or one side of a double acting cylinder.
Anybody got any tips?
Thanks,
Griz

Re: Choosing a pneumatic valve
You need a 3 port, 2 way.
Supply port
Work port
Exhaust port
You also need to check on the valve bias. In other words, for what you want, in the unactivated position, you want the work port open to the exhaust port, and the supply port closed. This would be the most typical bias, but all are not set up that way.
