That means a post advertising something to sell cannot get the titled modified later to indicate the item is sold?
Hmmm...

Why? That's a bit of a pain...

I have made it a policy to make that change, so all the seller need do is post (in the same thread) that the item(s) has/have sold. I'll add the ***SOLD*** notation to the subject line.

Several reasons, not the least of which being that some readers appear to have remorse for having posted, so they delete their comments after an issue has been aired. That tends to destroy the value of a thread, depending on what has been deleted. It also prevents those who sell things from removing their offering once the item(s) has/have sold. We prefer that such posts remain intact, as they are a good indicator for others of what an item might be worth.

If, once a comment has been posted, a reader would like to cast a different view on a topic, all that is required is to make a new post in the same thread. Shouldn't be much more difficult than editing, which some folks don't do, anyway.

The half hour allotted should be ample time for a reader to make any changes deemed necessary. And, should a change be required beyond that time limit, I'm always happy to accommodate readers, and I read every post, every day. A PM to me, or a note in the thread should be adequate to get my attention when required.

That all makes perfect sense, Harold. Thank you for the illumination. I have no experience trying to run a board.
