Profile change to "Interests"?

I searched for an answer to this, but came up empty.

I attempted to change the "interests" portion of my profile to be a bit more descriptive, and then discovered that my changes were simply added to the reason given for wanting to register on the boards. This resulted in redundant data in my profile. Are changes to one's "interests" shown in their profile not allowed?

Sorry for the delay on this answer.

This is kind of a consequence of how things are setup for trying to filter out spammers
who attempt to register.

I need to dig a bit to see what might be done to avoid the redundant stuff.

Not a problem, and I fully understand the reasoning.
I would have been more careful had I known it was going to be permanent in the profile.
