Having some SS boat prop shafts gathering dust, and seeing how the 4th of july was coming as well. It was time to whip up something to make noise with. 2.75 shaft and some leftover Walnut from a friends project resulted in the Salute cannon see below. The fed ATF is somewhat easy to satisfy as the cannon will only chamber 10ga Black Powder Blank shells, so Fixed Ammunition defined as Primer, Powder, Projectile can not be used, therefore it is not a destructive device. In addition the bore is tapered inside from muzzle to chamber, getting larger as it progresses to the chamber, this so if someone put say a 3/4" marble in the muzzle, the inside bore of 1 5/16 would not provide any sealing that would propel the marble out the barrel.
