V10 I'm working on

Post by Steve Nuttall »

I'm a bit of a F1 buff
I email a couple of makers but got nowhere
So I decided to cad my own

The pistion is already re-placed this version was too heavy
I will most likely build a Vtwin first to prove the concept

here a test cut in Cherry wood of the underside of the new pistion design
32mm bore X 25mm stoke is the target

Steve,

I am a bit of an F1 (actually all racing) fan myself. The teams are not willing to share much info with anyone outside, even though they have moved on to V8's for this year (at least most of the teams, still a few restricted V10's on the low budget teams). There have been a few SAE papers published over the years that share some of the older secrets. Another very good source of information is Racecar Engineering magazine.

It has been a few years since I had a subscription, but I still buy the occasional issue at the bookstore.

What CAD software are you using to design your engine? I have seen your CNC capabilities from some of your previous posts, so making the parts should be easy for you. Nice work, make sure you continue to post your progress here.

Regards,
Bill
