Gingery's Atkinson Cycle Engine

A friend has sparked my interest enough to work with him and build a couple of these model atkinson cycle engines like the one in Vincent Gingery's book Building The Atkinson Cycle Engine.

I have been studying the book and the drawings and i am getting ready to start gathering materials and making chips. I found some dimensions I questioned and was wondering if anyone else here ever built one of these. If so, I would like to discuss a few questions.
