I just found out an unexpected benefit of the PWM controllers.

There's an ice storm going on outside. I was spending some time in the shop milling away and the lights suddenly went quite dim. That's the kind of thing that burns out AC motors, but since the PWM controller fully adjusts the voltage and current to suit the load and settings, the motors didn't blink, the speeds stayed constant and just kept cutting away.

But, no sense in testing things too far, so maybe it's time to call it a night now...
