1220 Headstock bearings

Post by daGrouch »

Hi guys,

I want to replace the headstock taper bearings. Would anyone have numbers I can use to order some? I don't know what Smithy would provide but I would like quality bearings like SKF.

Any advice?
Thanks,
Ed

Ed,

Pull the bearings out if you can't get to them to read the numbers.
They are stamped and or engraved on the edges of the inner,
and outer bearing races. You can cross the numbers and or measure
them. and check your measurments agains't the bearing rep's.
I take the bearings down to the bearing supplier and have them cross,
and measure. Now if they are not correct it is there fault, not yours.
