17-4 lost wax couplers

Post by Dave Bortz »

Hi Folks;

My first casting run is complete and I have a limited amount of Pilot Coupler pockets, Pilot couplers,
draft gear couplers, and loop shank couplers available for sale.

Note on the draft gear coupler... I only have the draft gear coupler casting and not the draft gear castings so far... If there is high demand for that, I can produce the draft gear as well down the road....

These are from the lost wax process and cast in high strength 17-4 stainless steel.

Only lower 48 USA state sales at this time. PA state sales tax required. Shipping estimated per order.
Please send me a pm if interested.

Thanks
Dave

I can use one spud cupler and pocket for my critter. Stainless would be much nicer than the former Karlson aluminum I have. They would be Supertanium by comparison.

I received an early Christmas present from Dave Bortz yesterday.

Anyone who has bought couplers or a pilot beam coupler pocket from Barry at Super Scale knows the kind of quality workmanship that went into them. Well, Dave acquired the tooling from Barry and his product is every bit as good. I received two couplers yesterday, a loop shank coupler and a pilot beam coupler and they are fantastic !! They are art. You could frame them and hang them on the wall---but then you couldn’t use them.

He has found a real craftsman to do the waxes, enrobing and casting in 17-4 stainless steel and the result is just superb.

Thank you Dave.

Hi...
PPCP poured this batch, but I'm lucky to have several in my local area... Post Precision is another one... but there are several Foundries around...

Are you looking to get some parts poured ?

Send me a PM and maybe I can help...
Thanks

Just thinking. Have you thought about casting the couplers in plain steel?
Plain steel should be srong enough.
They woud rust the way real couplers do.
Couplers are never painted except in some railroad museums.
