For Sale: 30" Gauge Steam Locomotive & cars
Built by Tom Ternings of Kansas. The engine is a 5/8 scale model of a Baldwin 2-4-2 steam locomotive. It was
originally built with a non-code boiler and a new code boiler was built and installed in 1994. The boiler is coal
fired and the operating pressure is 150psi. The cylinders have a 5” bore and approximately 5” stroke.
The entire train was gone through after the new boiler was installed and some of the items included were steel
tires added to the locomotive drivers (excluding lead and trailing truck wheels) and all of the wheels on the
tender and cars and updated piping, valves, etc. The train is equipped with air brakes (air over hydraulic) and two
different air compressors. One air compressor is mounted under the tender and is driven by chain off of the
front axle on the front truck, and the other compressor is a steam duplex pump with an air compressor. There
are multiple sources of water injection into the boiler, including two injectors and one steam driven pump (the
pump is not piped in because it was really not needed with two injectors). There are two passenger cars and
they seat approximately twenty-five people per car. The original patterns that were used to cast the items that
were not fabricated are also included, along with two sets of extra trucks. It will take approximately two tractor
trailer loads to relocate the engine/tender and cars; one truck for the engine and tender and one truck for the two
cars.

This is a very nice train and would make a nice addition to a club or discerning Back Yard Rail Roader. I am
listing this for the owner and will be happy to address any questions. Interested buyers are welcome to bring
their U.T. machines and I will make arrangements for the owner to be available during buyer’s inspection. The
locomotive, tender and cars are located in Sanford, Florida, and is less than 10 minutes away from Sanford
International Airport.
