AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MERCER LOCOMOTIVE
Well guys and gals this is what you have been waiting for, someone to design and make an injector. Well it was a lot of work designing it. I started last year but stopped as I felt that Barry had the market sewn up, so I held back. Needless to say with his passing I took up the design work where I left off.
With the help of my solid works designer Jay of JG Conversions. I was able to produce two prototypes in one month.
I still have to do the testing, but all indications are that it will work fine.
As I mentioned in the video I will be charging $300.00 per unit and I will require a $50.00 deposit as well. Don’t send any money until I email you requesting the deposit and where you should send it.
PM me or email me at the address in the video. I’m starting a list.
Enjoy the video

Very nice Dave!

Any chance this would be made in 1" scale?

no 1 1/2 scale but I guess it could be used for 1 inch scale

Awesome timing, Dave! Right now there is a huge demand for injectors.

Yes, great timing indeed. With Superscale in limbo it is nice to see there will be some options for quality U.S. made injectors. Locoparts is also very close to releasing a new injector at a very reasonable price.

Very nice Dave! I was worried nobody would have anything for injectors at all this year. Cant wait to see a video of it in action!

You used a 2 jaw scroll chuck with jaws that have been machined to fit the body.
It appears that the body's on the 2 injectors are printed. Will the production be cast?

Hi Tim That is correct I have jaws machined for all four sides.
The bodies for the prototypes are 3D printed in stainless steel. After the testing results come in and I find that everything works, I have every confidence that it will, I will make more castings in 3D an expensive way to go but is it? I may make them in a sand mold Lost wax is expensive as well. anyway you look at it it's not cheap.

Hopefully the porosity induced by the laser sintering process does not interfere with the injector performance.
Looking forward to seeing the final working product.

Re: AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MERCER LOCOMOTIVE
Some amount of roughness on the body inner surfaces shouldn't have any effect since the cones are the working surfaces, that is unless they are 3D printed too... But then again, there is the 'golf ball effect' that aerodynamically makes a surface slicker.Mike Walsh wrote:Hopefully the porosity induced by the laser sintering process does not interfere with the injector performance.
