New cast iron dome, smokebox front and stack parts for Chloe, Fitchburg

Post by Harlock »

In our continuing quest to replace most of the aluminum parts with cast iron, we have today added all cast iron dome parts for the Chloe and Fitchburg Northern to the website, as well as a cast iron stack base and smokebox front. The smokebox front is the large diameter front for the Fitchburg. The Chloe version is nearly ready and will be available soon.

Retooling and updating the patterns is an ongoing process and we will have even more new parts to show in the next few weeks that are just coming out of the foundry now.

An overview of our new cast iron parts here:

The Chloe and Fitch parts are all located in section 7 of the Chloe and Fitch:

The Mogul sand dome top which is used on the Chloe and Fitch was already converted to cast iron some months ago, so now all the dome pieces for the Chloe and Fitch are now uniformly cast iron.

An important note is that we still plan to carry the aluminum versions for those who need a replacement part for an older engine or just prefer the aluminum. We recommend using the cast iron parts for new builds as it will add weight to the locomotive.

In each section, the aluminum parts are at the bottom of the parts list and zeroed out in quantity. Simply change the quantities if you want aluminum instead of cast iron.

What is not showing is the cover or top of the steam dome. Use M219t-1 Dome top. This is the way Marty used and we continue with this. There are same casting as what use to be the C 53t-1 casting.
