FS - random lot of castings ****SOLD****

Post by Mike Walsh »

Hi all,

Clearing out the shop a bit. I have this bunch of castings that I'd like to go to a better home.

I cannot identify these castings based on the vendors I'm aware of. I have included a 6" scale in the photo showing the entire batch.

I came up with a ballpark price of ~$80 for the smokebox saddle based on the cast iron saddle from Allen Models being $68. As a result, I would like to start at $350, shipped within the continental 48 states of the United States. I will entertain offers. I'd like to unload these sooner than later.

Thanks,
Mike Walsh

Mike, I think they are for a Marie Estelle, the Porter designed by Don Young and sold by Fred Ellis of Power Model Supply.

Sure looks like it, Marty. Thanks for the info. Good seeing you this past weekend! Too bad we didn't get more time to chat.

I'm open to offers if anyone is interested.

I agree, 2-1/2 scale 0-4-0 Porter Marie Estelle. I have one almost finished, until life got in the way...

Mike,
In your 'Batch #2', the first photo of the four 'Gumby's head' shaped blocks - what are they?

They are the journal boxes for the 4 wheel tender.

We found that AJ Reeves has the 2 1/2" Marie Estelle (7 1/4 or 7 1/2) castings in iron ($1800) or gun metal ($2300).

Those prices are for a complete set, including cylinders and drive wheels. This set is far from complete.
