New Wagon Top Boiler for an Allen Ten Wheeler ****SOLD****

Post by Marty_Knox »

Due to a cancellation I have available immediately a boiler to fit an Allen Ten Wheeler. It is a true wagon top, with a true keyhole firebox. It is mated to smokebox made from the same 8" pipe as the first course. The first course is shortened by 2" and the smokebox 2" longer to accommodate a ball valve throttle. It also has a stainless steel arch. The price is $5500; this does not include crating or shipping.

Jeff, the rear course is 9" schedule 40 pipe - 9 5/8" OD, .342" wall. The first course is 8" schedule 40 pipe - 8 5/8" OD, .322" wall. The tapered course is formed on a press brake from SA516-70 plate, 5/16" thick.

Would this be able to fit an Allen 2-8-0?

I think it is longer than a Consolidation. I will check the drawings and get back to you.

This boiler is longer than a Consolidation boiler. The Consolidation boiler is 32" long overall, the Ten Wheeler is 37" overall. This boiler is 35" long, the smokebox is 2" longer than the cast Allen smokebox.

I was going to say this will be too long for the consolidation. The 4-8-0 I have in the works is designed to use the ten wheeler boiler
