Corrugated Metal Source

Post by Fender »

Can anyone suggest a source for corrugated metal with the corrugations about 3/8” inch apart? This will be used on structures for our club railroad. Thanks.

Hi Fender,

You may want to look into the corrugated aluminum jacketing that is used for covering pipe insulation in industrial facilities. See, for example, McMaster part number 4479K22: https://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/124/3646/=1cjvjkg

There was an article in Live Steam Magazine a number of years ago that described how the White Creek RR in Michigan fabricated their model buildings; I believe this material is what they said they used.

Sincerely,
Adam

Thanks, Adam! Their catalog doesn’t say about what the spacing is for the corrugations, just the material, thickness and width. Do you have any insight on the spacing?

Hi Fender,

Unfortunately, unknown. Their customer service folks are very helpful though; you may want to give them a call to ask.

Sincerely,
Adam
