For sale is a 3 3/4" scale, 7.25" gauge Garratt. Easily re-gaugeable to 7.5" gauge, there is sufficient space between the outside frames. Currently located in New Zealand but can be crated and shipped worldwide.
Garratt # 27 is the only type like it in the world and is loosley based on the 2 foot gauge NGG 16. This was the last model which prolific builder Harold Sinclair started and was finished off buy professional model builder Paul Newton due to Harold's deteriorating health.
The engine has just received a new NZ boiler certificate which is valid for the next 4 years. The boiler is a Briggs type boiler with steel fire tubes and a copper heat exchanger in the firebox.
The engine has two steam pumps, one air and the other being a water pump to fill the boiler.
The air pump operates the brakes, the power reverse and drain cocks.
The engine also comes with one injector with provisions for a second.
Its last outing was at the Havelock North Live Steamers open weekend over Easter weekend April 2018.
Asking price is $50,000 USD.

Gotta say Mike....
That last photo really puzzled me until I realized the front engine was sitting on a "near" track in the 2 track trailer. Still...how does one go about pulling the front engine out from under the boiler? ...and what's supporting the loco during transit? Just curious. Carl B.

Life is like a sewer...what you get out of it depends on what you put into it!
I don't walk on water...I just learned where some of the stepping stones are!
I love mankind...it's some of the people I can't stand!

You have to undo some oil and steam lines then jack up the boiler cradle and put a dolly wheel set under it. It's made to come on and off fairly easily for transport.ccvstmr wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 8:39 am Gotta say Mike....
