Received my set, they look nice. Haven't machined them yet, but that is a good question.

What would the maximum rim width that these would finish? Greater than one inch wide?

These castings will finish with a very wide rim width if you want. I actually just chucked one in the lathe just now. It turned very nicely on a 1,000 lb 12" Taiwan import lathe.
Geez, better late then never, right?

Rough shipping weight?

And where are you? A general location in your profile will benefit all.

I assume, from the original listing, that there was only one set to be sold. Further, the individual making the offer has not been back on the board since October, so it's entirely possible he won't respond. No idea where he is located.

How I wish readers would disclose an approximate location in their profile. It's hard to trust, or help, someone who demands to remain anonymous.
No, disclosing where you are is not required. Just advised.

Thanks, Harold. That did occur to me, but 'you never can tell...'

Best wishes in your efforts to liquify metal! Sure wish I weren't half a continent away!

Thanks, Ed. I'd certainly welcome the support, and it would be a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
I have a bit of a quandary. There's a bearing issue with the motor/generator. I was told by Ajax that the bearings are no longer available, but I suspect that what they mean is they no longer offer them for sale. The motor/generator was not built by them, it was a purchased item, which they then assembled for their purpose. I know the name of the maker and will try to determine more. If I can't, without taking the set apart, I have no way of determining the numbers of the bearings. I've never had to deal with an armature that weighs a ton or so. Don't really know how this is going to shake out right now.

The bearings run perfectly well, but one of them, when slowing down, chatters at a given speed. The last time it ran it slowed the armature a little, then it went silent. I suspect the cage is the problem, but how long it can do that without damage is unknown.
