4 Wheel parts for 2 1/2" scale Bobber Caboose or Gondola

Post by Postwarbob »

Dont Know who offered these castings but I have Two sets of them for sale.I do not have prints .The outer flange of the wheel measures 5 1/8" front measures 4 1/2" . You are purchasing what is shown in the picture. 2 Axels , 4 Cast iron wheels, 4 axle boxes and 4 pedestals .The top piece that holds the pedestals is 1/2" by 1 " tall . Across the bottom is a strap of cold cold steel 1/8" by 1" wide. We had a member in our club who built a small 4 wheel Gondola with these castings. I have also seen them on Bobber cabooses. Each set is 120.00 and shipping for each is 20.00 USPS Priority. If interested please PM me.
Thanks Bob...

Reducing price of these castings . I believe after looking at these castings they were meant to be used on 1.5" or 1.6" scale. The wheels that came with them are defiantly not 2 1/2" scale. Too narrow . Probabably will finish in width to 13/16 or 7/8". As stated before I dont have prints but didn't think it will be a problem . Kit contains 4 wheels , 2 axels , 4 journal boxes , and 4 pedestals .New price is now 120.00 and that includes priority shipping .Please PM me if interested . I have 2 sets to sell.

Hi Bob
Just to let you know these castings were Mercer Pedestals and journals and wheels meant for six wheeled Pullman trucks. They could certainly be used to make a bobber caboose.

Those diameters relate to 36" wheels in 1.5/1.6" scale. Too small for me, got me all excited for a second there.
