New laser cut tender tank kits from Allen Models!

Post by Harlock »

Allen models is pleased to announce the latest major addition to the Allen Models lineup - complete laser cut steel tender tank kits for most of the Allen engines!

There are two tenders - a 30" tender and a 36" tender. The 30" tender is intended for the Mogul, American, Harpur 2-4-0, 0-4-0 Yard Engine and the Fitchburg Northern. The 36" tender is intended for the Ten Wheeler and the Consolidation. Except for the length they are identical in detail, so they can be mixed and matched with any engine suitably. Each tender features an 8" coal bunker and radius-ed corners throughout.

These products represent hundreds of hours of savings for the builder, with accurate holes from our laser cutter, as well as a bottom trough with CNC bent sides - No match drilling required on the flat areas! Spend more time on the enjoyable parts of your locomotive and less time cutting and filing sheet metal!

The two kits include clecos and a cleco clamping tool and all the copper rivets you'll need (1,000 for the long tender, and 950 for the short tender) plus brass angle brackets that act as a shelf for the removable tank top.

The tender kits are very competitively priced at $650.00 and $700.00, respectively. Shipping not included. Kits are now in stock and ready for delivery.

The 30" tender is available at: https://allenmodels.com/laser-cut-parts ... r-kit.html

The 36" tender is available at: https://allenmodels.com/laser-cut-parts ... r-kit.html

Here are some pictures of the 30" tender.

I placed my order for the smaller tank (for a Fitchburg Northern) this morning as soon as I saw this.

Any recommendations for the rivet tools?

Are they the old LocoParts tender kits?

Allen Models is a stand a lone company. I do not use other company's products. So Far. This new tender follows the original drawing prints. Others have copy it to sell. We did make changes. We felt and ask for comments on the location of the water filler hatch. "It was to far forward". We move this back for the seat area to be open. (Its now 3" on center from back of tender). Before it was roughly 8 1/2" from the rear. All other measurement are as per drawings. Thank You

The Locoparts tenders are a different design, but similar. I've built two of them, and they include more detailing than the new Allen tenders.
You could use the Locoparts forward valves, and half-round edging for your new Allen tenders.
Both products look superb.

Allen Models sales on these Tender has been great. I am having the pans weld up in the corner area's. Waiting for the angle brass to show up on order. Once these are done off they go. Most likely by end of week shipping. Just so most know we are going to develop other styles as we go. Not sure when and its all do to sales. The development on a part like this takes months. From drawings to Laser cutting, then photos to add products to the line. If there is a type or style you what it can be done in a one off part. But needs to be clear of drawing to show us.. Not just tell us over the phone or e-mail. Next is some flare tanks. This is the top sides to extend up at a angle, with corners material you need to form. We will roll them for a start, but still needs to have fitting by customer. People ask for the half round, This is something the customer can always do on his own. The basic Tank will get you the outline for improvements and additions customer whats and needs.
