Hi jpeach,

Are most of these castings from Mercer? If not, what/who is their origin? Who cut the frames? (Everything is nice looking!)

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

The cylinder castings were produced by Dan Horting with help from Dave S. It is very nice, and Dan (ebtfan) has posted wonderful build pictures, so I know he has some more photos of the casting and machining process. I'm happy to take additional photos of any details (of anything). I'm unsure of the origin (maker) of the driver castings, although they are the same drivers that Dan Horting has used on his K4. The pilot / tender wheels were purchased from Dave S a couple of years ago along with the spoke trailer truck wheels and the bronze brake cylinder castings.

The frames were laser cut from hot rolled plate at Yoder industries in Lancaster. I machined the journal pockets and the pedestal binders. I believe I documented the machining of these in the small build thread I had started. The spacing and width of the journal slots is dead on with the prints.

The two CNC cut brake hangars were done by me also and they turned out nice. I made a set for Dan Horting and they are in use on his chassis.

I should have included in my original post that of course anyone interested is welcome to come by my shop to view everything and pick up if they would like. Even if you are just considering you are welcome to come check everything out.
I live in Hampstead MD 21074 in Northern MD, south of York PA.

I prefer to sell as a package , and just have it listed on the Chaski site for now.

Thanks,

Jim
