1.6” Scale “LEACH” Sander Fittings

Post by AnthonyDuarte »

I am making a very limited run of early style “Leach” sander fittings in 1.6” scale (1:7.5). These were found on some locomotives built in the late 1800’s. They will be $40 for a pair, machined with 7/32”-40 internal threads. A bit of an odd size, but this represents 1.25” pipe in 1.6” scale.

I will only make enough for the amount of interest I get! I need a firm commitment by end of day Friday February 1st. No deposit required. I apologize for the short notice, but I’m planning on sending waxes to the foundry on Saturday.

And of course I'm looking for the more modern sander valves as used on logging locomotives in the teens and twenties.
(hint)

Your LEACH valves look good, though.

That is a U S Metallic Packing Co. sander valve which Baldwin used extensively on shortline and logging locomotives. They were also known as King Sanders from what I have seen.
