Wanted: 1/4-28 x 4.5" or 5" SHCS

Post by Benjamin Maggi »

I need some 1/4-28 socket head cap screws, and I prefer that they be black oxide coated. I would prefer them to be 4.5" length, but 5" would work in a pinch. I need 8 of them. I looked on McMaster-Carr and if I am reading their website correctly the screws sell for $6 each (90044A183).

Grainger sells a package of 25 of them in 4.5" in length for $30 (#26KW50), and with shipping that is $42. A bit less per screw, but the total is about the same and I will end up with a lot of screws I don't need.

Does anyone have some in their own inventory they are willing to sell? I only need 8?

Thanks.

Thanks Pipescs. The cost there is $23 for 8 screws before shipping, so with shipping it would probably be a little over $30. I guess that is a better deal.

If you can handle stainless, here's a pack of 10 for about $10 including shipping:

And I note that Zorro has black oxide, 25 pack, for $21.99 plus shipping:

And something else I've done a couple of times for other kinds of stuff is to ask at the local industrial supply if they have a customer who buys it regularly and if they'd put you in touch. Then you can see if you can buy a few from them.
