Seeking lottery tickets for either a 4”, 5” or 6” backing plate with old school 2”ID -5 TPI threaded chuck backing plate. This to fit a 1930’s Van Norman 10” dividing head spindle.

Also looking for a 1 1/4”ID - 12 TPI backing plate (5” or 6” chuck) for a Dalton 7 lathe....

Thanks,
Glenn

Are you sure the thread is 5 tpi and not 4 1/2 ?
BTW you can buy an 1 1/4-12 nut and weld it to a steel disk to make your own backing plate.

JB, not sure, I need to go recheck... I did measure it at 5 TPI the other day, but did not check the 4 1/2 gauge. have since read VN threads reported at both 4 1/2 and 5. Maybe they are actually 4 1/2, but 5 fits, so people don’t check further, and another urban legend survives... I will confirm.

Thanks for the heads up!
Glenn
