Cool! Thank you John!

I actually went to the museum yesterday and counted them on all of the engines that I could get close to. The B6 and the H10 were both behind fences. I didn't want to get thrown out....
The A5 has 52 below the running board. 50 are on the throat sheet.
The E6 has 84 on the throat sheet and 3 visible on each side.
The G5 has 33 on the throat sheet and 3 on each side.
The H6 has 76 on the throat sheet and 4 on each side.
The K4 has 110 on the throat sheet and 6 on each side.
The L1 has pretty much the same as the K4. Same boiler.
The M1 has 120 on the throat sheet and 4 on each side.
Don't know about the I1. Maybe somebody in New York where that locomotive is located could take a look?

These numbers also include what is visible on the bottoms of the boiler barrels. Many of the locomotives have combustion chambers. The E6, G5 and H6 all have full jackets. I'm not sure how much of the jacket was reapplied on the E6 boiler during her cosmetic restoration. It has the same boiler as the G5 and the bottom of the boiler jacketing isn't the same. The rest do not have jackets.

All of these locomotives have washout openings on the throat sheets, too. I'm sending a mold for that part to the foundry. The G5 has the washout openings on the throat sheet. As does the K-4. The M1 has them on the firebox sides, too.

I can take photos of the throat sheets if anybody needs them.

Thanks!

Andy

Hello All,

Here are a couple of photos:

This one is from the Locomotive Cyclopedia from 1925. I have a copy of the original drawing with all of the dimensions and it's nowhere near as readable as this.

Here's a drawer with over 100 caps in it.

Thank you for looking!

Lol! Depends on the boiler and how much is jacketed.

I also have Pennsy style washouts in process. There are a number of those on each boiler too.
