I am wondering if Rio Grande Associates is currently in business, and if so, is Terry Rider still running the business?
Here's why I'm asking:
In January 2010, I asked him to build two flatcars and one other car, the flats were needed for June delivery and this was agreed upon when ordered and reconfirmed by Terry again in early June. A 50% cash deposit for the three cars was made through PayPal in January - this was the payment method asked by Terry.
By July, no word from Terry, also no answer, by email or telephone, as to status of the overdue flatcars.
I have advised him the order is to be deemed cancelled... still nothing.
Is Terry Rider currently alive and doing business? If so, can any member advise (offline, if you prefer) his street or mailing address in Wichita KS?
Many thanks!

Re: Rio Grande Associates (Terry Rider): A Question...
No clue about the status of Terry or his company, but from Google maps, the address listed on the Rio Grand Associates web page appears to be 1/2 of a duplex. I have used Google maps to figure out the professional "level" of businesses prior to making payment. (For my "work" life, one software vendor was working out of his apartment. It did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling that I could depend on his "company" to come through for a large international deal.)
I am not saying that small, run-out-of-the-house, vendors are not capable of being reliable suppliers, but it is just a factor that should be considered prior to parting with your hard earned $$$ ... especially in the cases where the vendor is not well known or does not have a long track record of service.
Best of luck in your attempt to recover your money or get the product you contracted for ...

Re: Rio Grande Associates (Terry Rider): A Question...
Terry normally works in Chama at the C&TSR during the summer work sessions. He was there in 2009 but not in 2010; no idea as to why not. As far as I know, he was keeping busy with the RG Associates.
Re: Rio Grande Associates (Terry Rider): A Question...
I talked to Terry a week or two ago. He is still building cars.

Re: Rio Grande Associates (Terry Rider): A Question...
I'm pleased to advise this morning I have heard from Terry Rider, who is still building cars at Rio Grande Associates.
I now believe we'll have the needed flat cars completed, however belatedly.
To all concerned - the readers, the above responders, the others who took time to contact me offline, the moderator and others who provide this forum:
THANK YOU !!
Paul.
