got a engine and don't know what it is? help

I have this stationary engines im trying to idenafiy it but it has no name. It has 1 1/2e hp. 550 rpm on a tag but no name.

Frosty, As I recall, Hercules made a lot of engines for different companies and they usually had a plate like the one you describe. If no name or anything is visible on the water pot, there is no telling who it was made for, but Hercules prolly made it.

Their governor was pretty distinctive and is a good way to tell one of Herks' products.

Your engine is a Hercules or Economy engine. Both engines were made in the same factory and the shape of the water hopper is the main difference.

Economy engines were sold by Sears and were painted red and have a boxy shape to the water hopper.

Hercules engines were painted green and the water hopper has more rounded corners.
