MILW E80-E83 steeplecab

Post by Steepleman »

I have started building a Milwaukee Steeplecab switcher in 7.5" gauge 1.5" scale.
The only reference material i have is a sole plan of the front and side elevation which is sort of ok for some components.
Anybody know where i may be able to get drawings to use for more detailed construction?
I have asked the MRHA but had no joy.
Thanks
Mick

Hi RN,
Thanks for the lead.... But no joy on obtaining drawings for the little switcher.

Keen for any other leads!

Maybe somebody has an old edition of a model railroader or something like that which may have plans or drawings of the Steeplecab?

Maybe a silly suggestion:
buying a NKP brass H0-model (it's cheaper than the OMI-version)?
Photos are here:
http://www.brasstrains.com/Classic/Prod ... -80-Custom

I've got the unpainted version which was cheaper...maybe a friend can borrow you that model?
Apart from building my 1/2" 'Blue goose turbine' from BLW were no model was available I have bought a model for all the project I wanted to 'blow up' in large scales.
In comparison to the total amount you'll have to spend for your 1,5" -ES2 the costs of $300 or so for the H0 model shouldn't hurt too much.
If it would help I could provide you with some photos of details of my NKP ES-2

Hi Norman,
I have found and bought an Overland ES-2 in O gauge.
Hopefully this will help.
I will also keep trying to source any drawings.

Mick,

The City of Milwaukee Public Library has all of the Milwaukee Road archives including drawing.

Good luck,

Another suggestion. You could always reach out to the manufacturer of the HO brass engine. They must have in their possession scale drawings and probably original blueprints or plans. They may or may not be willing to give them/sell them/copy them for you. If they obtained them from somewhere, they may at least be willing to tell you their source.

Hi Mick,
a kind of misunderstanding - I did no detailing on the NKP-model. I offered photos of the model's details only for the case you need some infos that are not available on prototype photos or in usual drawings.
If you already have an OMI 0-scale model, which is much better detailed than my old NKP-version, you have the best detailed model on could wish. Congratulation for that acquisition.
I'm really interested in pix of your progress on the 1,5" version of the ES-2.
Good luck for your project.

Steepleman: there is a line drawing of an ES-2 on Wikimedia Commons. Do a search ( Yahoo from here) and it will pop, NOT Wiki pedia. I cant forward anything on this borrowed computer. Sorry.
