John,
That gondola would look great behind my MEG
Seriously though nice job, reminds me I need to add grabirons and stirrups to mine one of these days.

Yes it would.. You need to come east to the Eagle Point RR
http://csme-eprr.com/eprr.htm
Or for that matter come to the Florida Winter meets in February.
Thanks

Re: A new riding car
John,
I lived in Central Florida in the 60's and 70's, walked outside our class
room and watched the rockets go up, and was in the 1076 piece
band that opened Disney World. The palmettos bring it a back
like it was yesterday.
Great train, great example of the difference in 1-1/2 versus
2-1/2" scale. In 2-1/2 you can actually get IN the equipment.
I really wanted to build the RGS 40 in 2-1/2, but the mass and
cost just was too prohibitive.
Very nice engine, and your rolling stock is first class.
Thanks for the photo.

Will the gon be a Kit to go with your Shay?

Kimball
The gondola is almost entirely wood construction and does not lend to a kit. If you want I can send you my drawings but they are very primitive and a long way from complete.

But it could be a kit!
Next one just cut four of everything needed.
Presto, three kits!

Re: A new riding car
Well almost...first the raw lumber is almost a hundred pounds. After the rough boards are ripped they are re-sawn then planed. Pretty labor intensive. Kind of like the prototype of mortised joints I used two wood dowels at each joint. Lots of drilling, gluing and clamping. All of the deck boards are lap seamed as the prototypes were. By this time I see there is more time on cars than I have to spend. I do have another project under way that will be available I hope by next spring.Next one just cut four of everything needed.

BTW Thanks to everyone for your comments.
