Lil Gasser engine replacement

Post by wa6mdi »

Hi,

I have a Cannonball Lil Gasser, currently the Briggs and Stratton engine is old and runs OK, but I would like to replace it with something a little newer. Has anyone put a Honda or some other type of engine in one? If so what type and model number please?

Thanks

Dick,

Try West Bend Railcar Shops- David Gehrke Facebook page. He rebuilt an old Lil Gasser from a gas engine to electric. Came out very nice.

Good thought Gary. May I say I forgot about that.
Also, for others, look at his albums. You can see a lot of what David Gehrke builds and even get many ideas of "how" and what he uses. David has videos of some of his builds that are quite helpful too.

I am working on a "mini-dash" by looking at one he built.
Thank you for the reminder Gary.

Yeah, I am not too sure I want to try electric, hence the reason to see if anyone has put a Honda or similar engine into this Lil Gasser.

Look at the Honda 5hp with 2 to 1 reduction. That puts the output shaft back into the middle of the engine.
That's what I used in my RRSC 25t switch and it works great.
