Does anyone know where I can purchase 12 sets of glad-hands?

Something similar to these:

Although I have not tried the performance of these, they look very similar to the old SuperScale ones. Be worth trying if you want to keep the scale look.

as long as 2.5 scale is the scale you are needing.
That said, this guy should scale his down and have a set run. at 17 bucks each. and if they work with out braking. they will sell.

i have been running Johns glad hands for years with almost no issue. (still have glad hands in service from the very first batch)
the only issue is with the o-ring, will get stuck and tear if the left connected while the cars are in storage) my solution to that was to disconnect the hoses before storing the cars.
If it is not live steam. its not worth it.

Chris...ever consider wiping a little bit of silicone or Teflon grease across the face of the O-rings? Worth a try?

I've used the silicone grease on the small O-rings in Clippard quick connectors. Makes it a lot easier to thread the female fitting on the male fitting. Can get a tube of either material for under $10 that should last a long time. As usual, once you start with a material...you find other uses for it as well. Carl B.

I have and am worried about the grease collecting dust and grim.
I have found using a cup of water to dip the ends into will make then slick enough to connect but drys up so it does not collect dust and grim quickly.
I use the same Clippard quick connects on the other end of the tube with the glad hands, just remove to seal off the train pipe. :)

The product page says "They hold 80 PSI with no leaks and the O-ring stays in place while uncoupling them till 25 PSI pressure."

This implies that the o-ring does not stay in place if they uncouple at above 25psi?

Since I run automatic air brakes with a trainline pressure of 40 psi it would seem that I would have to carry a lot of spare o-rings ...

Thanks Joe, I'm sure I could machine them (and have my own design optimized for CNC machining rattling around in my head) but alas - "So many projects, So little time" and I still have to get ready for Train Mountain. :(

I bought some of the Kent Bolerjack gladhands, I have not put them on a car yet but have done some testing with compressed air. A small amount of oil does help, but they seal nicely at my test pressure of 50psi and will disconnect readily if you pull on them whether pressurized or not.

My intention was to set up simple automatic brakes on my equipment and do without safety chains. Those gladhands should fit the bill nicely. Kent did mention he does use a small amount of cyanoacrylate adhesive to keep the O-ring in place.
