Springs for RRSC 6 Wheel Passenger Car Trucks

Post by dwilloughby »

I'm building a number of RRSC 6 wheel passenger car trucks. I have acquired dummy leaf spring sets and need some advise on the coil springs. I would like to have a progressive spring set similar to what is used by Real Trains. Any suggests as to the inner and outer springs would be appreciated. Thanks

Give Jim Oetting a call, he has the right springs for these trucks.

Dean

This is what I use on my six wheeled trucks. I have a dummy set of leaf springs and I use an inner and an outer spring on the equalizer bar. I think you can see the two springs in the picture.

When nesting coil springs inside each other, it is best if they are wound opposite directions; one left, one right. That way the coils cannot ever get hung up on each other, or get one trapped in the other.
