Seen it before. Pretty neat Huh?

I have personally seen a 16 inch piece of rail missing on the NYC tracks, by my childhood home. Track crew showed up about 2 hours after I turned it in to my Cleaver family, Ma & Pa. (they know what to do..!). They called the Cops, and off went the message.

The double track main was always running at 50 or so. When that rail left, you could feel the ground move, and hear it for a mile it pounded so hard. Never left the rails. All was well.

I talked to an engineer, about that time, as they would pull up behind a Restarant in a mini mall we had for lunch and dinner. I asked him what he does when something like that occurs. He smiled wide and said "Tighten up, Notch 8 for the train and washers on the seat for me!"

I didn't get the part about the washers (out of) on the seat until much later. I walked the tracks to High School, about a mile and some from my house, best way to go. Nobody rode a Bicycle, (Peer pressure) I didn't have a car, until I got a real job. Bought a 63 Chevy for $250 with Grad money. Check the gas and fill the oil please.

That's pretty cool! Shows just how good the suspension and equalization works on the good old three piece truck, not to mention a consolidation!

I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Wow!

I have seen 1/8 scale trains go over 1-inch gaps.

at my local club, we had a siding that had developed a out side rail gap of 1.5 inch one summer. all my equipment would roll over it with no problem, slow that is, as our pond was only a few feet from the track,
it has been fixed
