Regular lead acid batteries should be kept on charge as they will self discharge. Gells can take a bit more discharge but should still be on charge and have a different charger voltage. AGM batteries have a much lower self discharge rate and could be left over the winter and can use the same charger as regular lead acid. Still for best life keeping them charged is best. Going 14 years on my three Gell cells for the boat house bank and the same for the AGM start battery. Best choice for long life is a 3 stage charger with temperature compensation, here is info on what a three stage charger is. http://www.batterystuff.com/blog/3-stag ... rgers.html

I put mine on a Battery Tender for the winter, stored outside in the train trailer. Just google battery tender, pretty cheap at around $30.
