Hi,
Can anyone tell me the easiest way to drill a hole to accept self tapping screws to join
the flue pipe to the back of my woodburner?
See screenshots here http://s807.photobucket.com/user/EarthT ... 0Machinist
A, is the fitment on the back of the burner it can be removed by simple rotating and disengaging the lugs.
Is about 1/8" thick.
Photo B is the elbow attached to the stainless steel double walled flue liner.
The elbow will nicely fit into the back of the burner as shown in photo C.
I need to drill several self tapping holes to join the 2 together and then seal any gaps with woodburner sealant.
Best way to do this, type of drill bit, how to drill?
I have two hand drills one 810W the other 280W
Help appreciated,
Thanks.

Put self tapper in driver bit, place where you want it and pull the trigger!
The ones that I use have a 1/4" hex head about 1/4" to 3/8" long and look like the picture below.

I've never heard of a driver bit, I Googled driver bit but several different things came up.
I'm in the UK over the pond this might have a different name?
Can you post a picture of what this looks like? If you have time and no inconvenience to you. If you can locate a suitable driver bit on Ebay UK and post link. That would be great, if not, no problem.
Thanks.

Gregg
Just let go of it, it will eventually unplug itself.

Curtis posted a picture. The driver just has to match the head of the screw.
I prefer hex head self tapping screws. You can get them in Philips and use a Philips driver, I don't know if you have Robertson screws and drivers over there, they would be my second choice.

Found what you mean in the UK. Will use a center punch to start them off, the big drill has variable speed so will use that.
Thanks.
Thanks.
