That isn't a lesson but a generalization coated with snipe.

No, I'm not mad; they tried to help me, and it's not like I was paying them. But it has been a little frustrating.

So we move on without acrimony or generalizations. You are in a different place than before and two motors to work with. I was ignorant about why the HP would be so high. I shouldn't even have commented for I never owned a large belt sander as these. From what I read now, they take off material that would otherwise be milled away.
I used to have a load of that heavy clear plastic slabs they use for paint booths, sand blasting areas.. It was out (for a rain clean) when the purge happened. This is like a flexible wall and that was the best way. That stuff was not going to catch fire without accelerant.

Here's news that will cement my legacy as king of the Chaski boneheads.

I forgot the motor was dual-voltage. It was wired for 460. I fixed it, and now everything is dandy.

This is like the time I left the drain plug out when I changed my oil.

Good thing no one knows about that.

Steve: You may claim to be king but some of the rest of us (well, me) have done similar things. You are far more sharing, and I learn by example, whether good or otherwise. Just be safe.

Chuckle!
Brings to mind the time Susan and I went to Lake Powell with our 24' Cruisers Gran Bateau. Got the boat in the water, but soon noticed it was riding a little lower than it normally did, and wasn't very responsive. Boats do that when you forget to install the drain plug.

Glad you caught it in time. We worked with this fellow who was a genius engineer (went on to greater things). Back when he was surrounded with motor head guys, he decided to replace his disc brake pads. He didn't need any help because if us morons could do it, he could do it better. There are packets of grease included in the kits. It made perfect sense to coat the pads' surfaces..so they wouldn't wear.

HAH! Same story here, but with a 17 ft. sail boat!
So Steve can't hog the Bonehead designation.
