I don't know, but I imagine the soy sauce will have lead and melamine in it.

Want me to measure some?
They will measure to the numbers I posted already...

Muchos gracias, Bill, but I have to buy the bolt anyway. Along with anything else that grabs my attention and jumps into my cart.

Steve,

I scanned this for ya out of my common & notso common hardware book.
Note the diameter of the stock used to create rolled threads compared to cut threads.

If you don't have a Machinery's Handbook, Capscrews attached.

Thanks, Bill. I do have Machinery's Handbook, but I didn't feel like fighting 9,000 pages of fine print looking for an obscure answer. I didn't even know what "pitch diameter" was.

I got my bolt, and the joke is on me. First of all, Home Depot doesn't carry 4" 1/2-13 bolts that aren't threaded all the way to the cap, and on top of that, the OD is about 0.495", which suggests to me that I will have to do two passes with a 1/2" mill to get a slot big enough for comfort.

In Grants tomb at least the bolt diameter will be twice the radius, unless it isn't perfectly round then all bets are off.

I've had those problems too; basically, when trying to use a bolt as a pin that should fit a hole accurately.
The trick is; FIRST, obtain the bolt, then cut the hole.
Or; make the pin/bolt yourself.
