The part is really thin, and alu.
A hole saw will work fine, in a lathe.
About 80 rpm.
Use 2 - 3 relief holes, and it is half the load.

I have done similar in steel, even on a drill press (too fast in rpm).
The holes make a huge difference.
About 10 mm relief holes, internal sides of the slug.
