Tool box upgrade

Post by John Evans »

Always short of storage space so made my dealer friend friend a offer on this box with end drawer set. For the moment I have 3 empty and quite a bit of space in several others. Put the old one on Craigslist for a $100 and it was gone next day. Note wood block on big box's wheel. Driveway has a small slope to it,turned my back while loading it and it decided to head for the street :o My Ranger PU stopped it though.

how did it get past the chevy? I'd love your old bottom box. $100 is almost worth crying over.

That picture is after I retrieved from the side of the Ranger, was further away from the Corvair Pu and at a bit of a angle aimed to the Ranger. Backstory on the old box a craigslist item. Took several weeks to contact the seller ,as I recall paid $75-80 for it. It had some odds and ends in it mounted points ,carbide burrs etc. Sold off some of the burrs and paid for the box. :D

More room, more storage, and more stuff. Always welcome.

I set up a spreadsheet to calculate the total drawer area of various toolboxes/chests/rollaways and combinations. I used area rather than volume because almost all of what I need to store are small tools that need to go in a single layer (mics, rulers, calipers, etc...).

The Kennedy 297B bottom with the 285B chest has the drawer area of almost 8-1/2 Kennedy 7-drawer machinist chests (and takes a LOT less room). Some of the top chests have a top compartment and others are designed to stack, so I could even put another on top of that.

It's not as much as an 11-drawer Lista, but then it's not $1,400 used either.
