Usually when things from craigslist are posted it is done with a bit of humor involved .

This one is a bit differant. .. being both a shaper and old iron aficionado I can't help myself from posting this .
All I can say is if had the cash or could borrow it easily this little gem would be parked in my shop already .

A new shaper manufacturer to me, I could be wrong but that shaper is either a bit larger than what he has it listed as or it's built far better than the South Bend, Atlas ones are. That ones certainly a lot heavier built than my SB is. The supply of the smaller shapers seems to have almost dried up. I've been watching the asking prices climb over the last 10 years to where it's not uncommon to see prices at $1600 - $2000. No idea what there really getting for an actual selling price though.

Hi There,

The Havir Shape-Rite is a lot heavier than the South Bend,
AMMCO or Atlas ones. If the ways are good, the price isn't
bad. I looked at one over ten years ago up in that area.

The one I saw wasn't this model. The Shape-Rite came in
a couple of different configurations. I think this is the earlier
model (with the oval door). The later ones had a bigger
square door to get access to the bull gear and said "Model B"
on it and the belt drive was on the other side.

I didn't get the one I saw long ago. It had a weird problem I
have never seen (before or after). The side of the dovetail
way on the ram was missing a lot of metal! It wasn't worn
away. It was like the cast iron had flaked out and left a rough
void about 3 or 4 inches long and nearly an inch wide (one hell
of an oil pocket)! I have no idea what caused this but it was like
the metal just wasn't bonded right and just fell out at some past
point in time. Either that or the void was there from the beginning
and they just machined it and let it go like that (hard to believe
that a company would let it out the door that way).

I think he has it sized correctly , using the bucket for scale the ram stroke looks right , plus it has a picture of the travel scale .

It is most definitely built heavier then my 8 inch Logan , but the feature that has all of my attention is that it has a universal table . How often do you see that on a smaller shaper .
Besides that , the machine itself looks to be in an unmolested condition, this alone draws me eye .

But again... if I had the extra cash this would probably be a want to sell add for my Logan lol

When I put "shaper" in the Craigslist search window, I get to see some really shocking female rear ends. I didn't know they grew them that big.

I went back to the link and it appears this shaper is still available. It is very good to see one like this. Sure it is heavier but it approaches what can be done with a shaper of larger size.

That sharper may be worth a pretty penny, but I think I got the buy of the month. 1977 Jet 1236ps from a woodworking shop. Still had the plastic labels over the metal plates. Nobody wanted it because it was covered in sawdust and the original shipping grease. Man posted it for 750, I traded a 450 rifle for it. Has cleaned up very nice.

just found this. seems a little high in price, but might still be worth investigating. He'll take 950 for the set.
