I flipped a coin, the colletless collet blocks won.

I checked height of the bar at 8 points on the surface plate, it's got a max variation of +/-.0002. Blocks were made on the same poor li'l drill press that will make the square drive shaft so it's capable of good numbers... as long as the Z isn't messed with between cuts.
