Where can I buy this thread checker

Post by azscj »

I came across this today at a friends shop....and have seen these at some hardware stores to use as a tool to check threads. Anyone know where to buy one of these like this? I was told Harbor Freight but dont see it there online. Anyone have one of these?

Amazon has one that the samples are held with a wire cable possibly enabling getting it in an awkward position.

A few places have them.. but not real common. I haven't bought one yet, but I think I would prefer the wire cable type for storage and portability reasons.

Thats perfect! Exactly what I wanted.....and I like the one on the wire as well so maybe will just order both styles. Been alot of instances in the shop where I could have used that.

I bought both the metric and inferial thread checkers strung on a wire from Amazon. I quickly discovered that the wire was a PIA if trying to check studs attached to some immovable object. I made wooden holders for the "unstrung" checkers and all is fine.

Be certain that the checkers you buy have the size ENGRAVED RATHER THAN PRINTED on them. The latter have a habit of becoming indecipherable as they wear in use.
